driving license (if available) . Also carry writing material, stepler, glue, pins etc.
Q2. How many students is the company going to
recruit?
Ans. Companies neither come with a fixed quota to select nor do they normally give
out any figures in this regard. Since a good recruiter, from companies evaluation
point of view, will be the one who with least effort, minimum time and
expenditure recruits maximum number suitable students. They normally select as many suitable and eligible students as possible, without lowering standards. However if no suitable student is found none is likely to be selected.
Q3. What package is the company going to
offer?
Ans. Remuneration packages are revised frequently. Also companies like to announce the same during the Pree Placement Talk (PPT). However, you can get an idea about the package offered by some of the companies last time from “Companies Data”.
Q4. Will there be a contract/bond?
Ans. This practice differs from company to company.

considerations such as desired field of work, location, pay package, learning value etc different students may have different opinion about the same company.
Q6. What selection process will be followed by
the company?
Ans. See Company’s Data for the process followed by the companies last time.
However, companies keep changing this and give out the details during the PPT.

Q10. What will be the scheduling of various
companies for campus placement?
Ans. Schedule of companies is not fixed. Some times this gets decided at very short notice and in a few cases changed /cancelled at the last moment. However the Institute will give maximum available notice to benefit the students. Keep visiting the Institute’s website , look up the notice boards and form a group of reliable batch mates to keep each other informed.

included even if we are ineligible/marginally ineligible?
Ans. No, Institute will include only those students who are eligible as per the criteria communicated by the company.

prepare our CV?
Ans. A power point presentation is available with each department alongwith a few sample CVs. However these should serve only as a guide.
Q14. Why my name has
not appeared in shortlisted students?
Ans. Either you are not eligible or data base does not have your proper data. You may not have given it or not updated it or it might have been wrongly entered or omitted. Contact T & P Department through your CC with original supporting documents.

Q15. What is the
policy on multiple jobs?
Ans. See the ‘Notice’ on the subject.
Q16. Will college
provide transport for placement drive outside?
Ans. No
Q17. Will students
with supplementary / reappear be allowed?
Ans. Normally companies do not allow. Therefore, this will depend on eligibility criteria notified by the company concerned. Also most companies freeze the data after the stipulated date and entertain no changes. Therefore last minute inclusion is normally not possible.
Q18. What is the
scope of placement of students who do not make eligibility criteria?
Ans. Not as good as for those who
are eligible. However if they develop expertise in some
fields such as PLC, Main Frame , Java, .Net, ORACLE,CAD,CAM etc or join some
reputed training institutes with tie ups for placement they can improve their
chances. They should also apply on line where ever possible if eligible.
Q19. Why only IT/Computer
companies come early?
Ans. As there is a boom in IT industry these companies want to recruit as early as possible to get good students before their competitors select them. However, should the demand go down this too will change.
Q20. I am not from
IT/Computer. Will I be at a disadvantage
if I join IT/Computer firm?
Ans. Companies will not select from other branches also unless they are sure based on
]their past experience that this works well.. They therefore ensure that
these students will meet their requirements during their training. However you will do well to find out and acquire knowledge in the subjects related to your company’s field of operations. Also training in most of the companies caters for this. You may also like to interact with alumni of the Institute to get more information.
Q21. After being selected what preparation should
students carry out?
Ans. Interact & find out from Institute’s alumni in that company or your seniors. You
may also like to clarify from the companies selection team once the final results are declare. Some companies such as Cognizant do discuss this .
Q22. What do the companies look for in a
candidate?
4/5
Ans. Different type of companies may look for different attributes, hence different
selection criteria are followed. However, most reputed ,large companies look for appropriate aptitude, attitude, technical knowledge, trainability, motivation and suitability to fit in the company & the likely continuation in the job. Personality and communication skills ( English ) are also very important qualities looked for.
Q23. What are Dream/Day 1 companies & their
implications?
Ans. Dream companies are ones which most employee will aspire to join.Day 1
company is the fist company visiting the College for that batch. In case of Dream Companies all student who are eligible even if having a job offer
will be allowed to appear . However, Dream Company Status is accorded by the Institute. Since Day 1 Company is the first company coming to the Campus it may not have Dream Company status. Therefore if no placements have taken place till then all eligible students can appear. However some placements have already taken place & it does not have Dream Company status then the students already selected will not be allowed to appear.
Q24. How and when should we start our
preparation?
Ans. Preparation should start as early as possible but in no case later than mid of third
semester because companies are expected in 5/6 semester. For good preparation 6
months to 1 year time is required along with regular classes.
Q25. Should I take up a job
& then do MBA or otherwise?
Ans. Both options are O.K. However, I prefer & advise joining MBA first. Although
you may like to keep a job offer in hand, just in case things do not work out as desired. Reasons are job experience might give you a little advantage/weight age but what you learn in a job such as Software Developer etc., will not be of much use, at present you are at your academic peak with best chances of making to a good business school, with a job you will not have time & energy to prepare simultaneously, your time management and exam techniques as also basics /fundamentals and knowledge of short cut etc., will deteriorate. Being in a good job, doing well might get you in your comfort zone & further compounded by fear of failure you may change your mind later. Also advantages in terms of career progression and finance favour this choice. If the age is also an important consideration, as maybe for ladies than too this option is more suitable.
Q26. How can we find out more details about a
company?
Ans. Visit company website. Contact alumni/seniors in / associated with that company.
5/5
Q27. How can we improve our communication
skills, group discussion etc.?
Ans. This can only be done by practice. Attend PDP classes, form small groups and
carry out group discussions & interviews within such groups You will notice
marked improvement in a short time if done seriously and regularly. Watch good discussion programmes on English TV channels and then discuss within your group.
Q28. How should we dress up for an interview?
Ans. You should be dressed formally:-
Summers:-
Gentlemen Ladies
White or light coloured full sleeve Saree/Salwar kameez suit/
shirt, tie, dark colour trouser, matching Trouser & shirt/top
socks & formal shoes.
Winters
Above along with a blazer/suite Above with a
blazer/coat/cardigon
Q29. How should we keep ourselves informed /updated
so as not to miss an opportunity?
Ans. Visit Institute’s website frequently, see notice boards, form a group of batch
mates & keep each other informed. Keep your contact details updated with T&P and CC.
Q30. I
can not come to the college. Can I go without an admit card & will I be
allowed?
Ans. You may be taking a chance which is not advisable. Ensure that, if required, you
collect your admit card. Also don’t forget to take the same for subsequent part
of the same selection process. In one case students who did not take their admit
card for HR/Technical interview conducted after a few days were not allowed.
